There is more to Pelvic health care than simply doing ‘kegels’, and we make it our mission to ensure all elements that are driving or contributing to your pelvic health problem are addressed.

The pelvic floor is a complex structure made of muscles, fascia and nerves that essentially connect your abdominals, diaphragm, pelvic girdle, bladder, bowel, uterus and your hip bones together. Just like any other muscle in the body the pelvic floor can actually become too tight as well as too weak, and any deviation from the normal function of a muscle can lead to issues. Whether you have incontinence, prolapse, constipation, painful intercourse, back pain or other pelvic health issues, we are here to help and can’t wait to meet your body.

What to expect

We approach every single pelvic health condition like a detective on a mission to identify, educate and move you from pain or dysfunction back to being the dynamic woman you deserve to be.

Step 1 – Your Story
We start by listening to your story to make sure you are heard. We take a detailed history encompassing information from the pelvic floor as well as other body systems. Some of our questions may seem a little surprising, but trust us it gives as useful information to help us piece you back together.

Step 2 – Assess
We will then assess your pelvic floor, breathing, bladder and musculoskeletal system using body movement, objective testing, bladder and pelvic floor ultrasound and in most cases a vaginal exam.

Step 3 – Drivers
We will then take a step back to determine if there are any other drivers contributing to your problem that we need to address as a part of your treatment. Trust us this part can get interesting as we start to show you just how connected your body really is.

Step 4 – Empower
A diagnosis will be made and we will empower you with the knowledge you need in order to improve. We will put a treatment plan in place so you are clear on where you are and where you are heading.

Step 5 – Treat
Depending on your diagnosis and assessment findings your treatment may include a very targeted specific approach to building up your pelvic floor, or it may need a more manual therapy-based approach to release the pelvic floor, pelvic girdle, rib cage and spine. We use a range of different equipment and hands on techniques based on the individual.

Step 6 – Dynamic Movement
Our favourite step! Every woman should be able to move and exercise and we will work with your body, your symptoms and your biomechanics to help you achieve your goal whatever it may be. Whether it be running, squatting 60kg, having pain free intercourse or simply going for a walk with no leaking or vaginal heaviness we will structure your rehabilitation program to guide you there.

Please make sure you attend any pelvic health appointment with a semi-full bladder so that we can perform an ultrasound as apart of our assessment. If you wish not to have an ultrasound for personal reasons, then simply please let the therapist know in your appointment.
